About Me
Hello, I’m Georgina
If you’ve found your way here, you may be looking for a space where you can finally talk openly, make sense of what you’ve been experiencing and feel truly heard.
Perhaps you’re finding things difficult, feeling overwhelmed, or simply no longer feel quite like yourself. Whatever has brought you here, you don’t need to have everything figured out before you reach out.
My own experience of accessing counselling has also shaped the way I work. At a time when I needed someone to really listen and understand, without judgement or expectations, I found having a safe and confidential space allowed me to talk openly, make sense of what I had been through, and begin to work things out in my own way.
I know how valuable it can be to have somewhere you can speak honestly, without worrying about upsetting the people you love or feeling that you have to protect those around you. That experience has stayed with me and continues to shape the kind of space I want to offer to others.
My journey into counselling grew from many years of supporting people whose mental health had affected their ability to connect with others, maintain relationships, work, and live the lives they wanted.
Alongside my professional experience, growing up alongside close family members experiencing complex mental health difficulties gave me a personal insight from an early age into the profound and individual nature of mental health challenges.
Returning to university later in life was also an important personal milestone for me, reminding me that it is never too late to challenge the beliefs we hold about ourselves and pursue something that matters.
Over time, I became increasingly interested not simply in what people were struggling with, but in what might help them understand their experiences, make sense of what was happening and find a way forward that felt right for them. This ultimately led me to train as a counsellor.
My approach is warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental. I believe you are the expert in your own life, and my role is not to tell you what to do, but to offer a safe space where you can slow things down, understand yourself more deeply and begin to find your own way forward.
Working Together
I do not believe that I have all the answers — and I don’t think therapy is about having someone tell you what to do.
Instead, I see therapy as a process of working things out together.
For me, an important part of counselling is the relationship we build together. I want you to feel comfortable enough to be yourself, speak openly and explore difficult things without fear of judgement.
I aim to create a warm, safe, and accepting space where we can work collaboratively, at a pace that feels manageable for you.
I will listen, be curious and work alongside you to help you understand what you are experiencing, recognise what you need and identify the changes you would like to make.
Most importantly, I want therapy to be a space where you can be yourself, find your own answers and move forward in a way that feels right for you.
Professional Supervision
Attending regular clinical supervision is an essential part of my professional practice and supports me to work safely, ethically and effectively.
As a BACP registered counsellor, I undertake regular supervision in line with the expectations of professional and ethical practice.
Supervision provides me with a confidential space to reflect on my work, consider different perspectives, think carefully about safeguarding and risk, and continue developing my skills and professional practice.
For me, supervision is not simply a professional requirement; it is an important part of being a responsible therapist and maintaining a safe, effective and supportive therapeutic relationship with my clients.
Your Peace of Mind
Choosing a counsellor is a personal decision, and I understand how important it is to feel safe, comfortable and confident in the person you are trusting with your wellbeing.
I am a BACP Registered Counsellor and BABCP Member (PWP), and a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner with experience working within NHS Talking Therapies.
I hold appropriate professional insurance and a current DBS check, and I undertake regular clinical supervision as part of my professional and ethical practice.
Above all, I want you to feel that you are in a safe pair of hands — with a counsellor who will listen without judgement, respect your choices and work alongside you at a pace that feels right for you.
Is counselling with me right for you?
Choosing to start counselling is a personal decision, and I believe it’s important that you feel comfortable with the person you choose to work with.
I offer a free initial telephone consultation so we can talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you’re hoping for and whether my approach feels right for you. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask any questions and get a sense of what it might be like to work together.
I believe in being honest about what I can offer. If I feel that my experience, approach or the support I provide isn’t the best fit for what you need, I will be open with you and, wherever possible, help you explore other options or signpost you towards a more appropriate source of support.
You don’t have to know exactly what you need before you get in touch. Sometimes the first step is simply having a conversation.
