How I Can Help
Support for when life feels harder than it should.
You may know exactly what is troubling you, or you may simply know that something doesn’t feel right.
Counselling can give you a safe, confidential space to slow down, understand what is happening and explore what may be contributing to how you feel. Together, we can begin to make sense of your experiences and find a way forward that feels right for you.
Many people come to counselling after spending a long time trying to cope on their own. You may be functioning well on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted or stuck underneath. Sometimes, it can be difficult to put into words what is happening — and you don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin.
Whatever has brought you here, we can start with where you are now. We can talk about what you are experiencing, what feels difficult and, if you would like, what you would like to be different.
Areas I can support you with
These are some of the difficulties people may bring to counselling. Your experience does not need to fit neatly into one category.
Counselling provides a safe and compassionate space to make sense of what you’re experiencing, understand yourself more deeply, and develop new ways of coping so you can feel more confident, balanced and able to move forward.
Anxiety & Worry
Perhaps your mind rarely feels quiet. You may find yourself worrying about what might happen, imagining worst-case scenarios or feeling unable to switch off.
Overthinking & Rumination
You may replay conversations, analyse decisions repeatedly or question whether you said or did the right thing.
Burnout & Overwhelm
When you are constantly coping, caring for others, meeting expectations and carrying responsibilities, it can become difficult to notice how depleted you have become.
Confidence & Low Self-Esteem
You may be highly self-critical, compare yourself with others or feel that whatever you do is never quite good enough.
Depression & Low Mood
Life may feel flat, heavy or difficult to engage with. Motivation, enjoyment and hope can become harder to find.
Panic
Panic can feel frightening and unpredictable, especially when physical sensations seem to arrive without warning.
Trauma & Difficult Past Experiences
Experiences from the past can continue to affect the way you feel, respond and relate to yourself and others in the present.
ADHD, ASD & Emotional Wellbeing
Neurodivergence can affect emotional regulation, confidence, relationships, overwhelm and the way everyday demands are experienced.
When Did You Last Feel Like Yourself?
You may also be experiencing stress, pressure at work, difficulties in your relationships, bereavement, people-pleasing, low confidence, perimenopause or menopause, a significant life change, or simply a sense that you’ve lost touch with yourself.
You don’t need a diagnosis or a particular label to seek counselling. If something is affecting your wellbeing or you feel ready for some support, you are welcome to reach out.
Therapy tailored to you
I work integratively, drawing on different therapeutic approaches depending on your experiences, needs and what you would like to work on.
My work may include elements of Person-Centred Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and other approaches where appropriate.
There is no one-size-fits-all way to do therapy. Our work is collaborative, with you at the centre of the process, and we can regularly review how therapy is feeling and whether our approach continues to be helpful for you.
Ways we can work together
I believe therapy should work for you, not add another difficulty to your life. That’s why I offer different ways of working, allowing us to find an option that feels comfortable, practical and right for you.
Face-to-Face
For those who prefer meeting in person, sessions take place in a private and comfortable setting.
Online
Online therapy offers flexibility and convenience, allowing you to attend sessions from a private space that feels comfortable for you.
Telephone
Telephone sessions are available if you feel more comfortable talking without video, or simply prefer the ease and flexibility of a phone call.
I offer daytime and selected evening appointments, with some weekend availability, making it easier to fit therapy around work, family, and other commitments.
We can talk through the options when you get in touch and decide together what feels right for you. If your needs change, we can also adapt the way we work.
Not sure whether counselling is right for you?
I offer a free initial telephone consultation where we can talk briefly about what has brought you here, what you are looking for and whether working together feels like the right fit.
